Mellis Cricket Club

In 2008 Mellis Cricket Club (MCC) moved to a new ground on the Thornham Estate. The site, although new to Mellis, had in fact been a cricket field in years gone by - MCC found press cuttings and score sheets showing that the then Lord Henniker established a cricket ground on the estate in 1876. The club believes cricket was played up until 1950s.

Mellis Cricket Club, based at Thornham Magna, has a beautiful ground and a modern pavilion. There are two adult league sides playing Saturdays in the Norfolk Cricket League as well as the occasional Sunday friendly match. There is also a thriving junior section with mixed boys and girls teams playing in the Suffolk Junior Cricket League. They are always looking for new players of any ability.
